I suddenly remembered what my uncle has told me regarding web site making. He said that after I have created my web site, the next step is for people to visit it. The methods I might use to increase the number of visitors to my site will depend upon the type of site I have. A successful plan to drive traffic will cover many different angles. If I am planning to drive traffic to a business related site, I have to remember that it will take time. Unless I have a very large budget it is impossible to drive traffic over night and even if I did, this traffic would not be sustainable.

The aim is to create sustainable and increasing traffic to my web site. Search engine optimization is one key to have people visiting my site. At first, the very best thing to consider when creating traffic for the web site is to make sure to have the content that people usually look for, and not to be too specific about my wordings in the contents of my web site. People should at least stumble upon the site, even if they don’t really mean to, trying to find what they are looking for so at least, even if they did not do it intentionally, they will find out that the web site exists.

My friend decided to give tips for a good website last night because he knew that I am planning to make one for business. First thing he said was about the title… Make the title stunning he said. Without a title for my Web site that would catch their eye they won’t click on it. If my readers find a link to my Web site on search engines, or other lists, they probably won’t click on it. Another is the column…

How many columns I use in my Web pages changes the whole thing. It would be easier for the visitors to see two columns, one for navigation and the other for the writings, and it is the best one to have for any starting web pages. Third that he told me was colors… He said that if my web site design colors are boring, people will think your web site is boring. Fourth is navigation…

He told me that an important rule to follow in Web site design is that every web page on my web site should link back to my homepage. If I want to keep people on my Web site then I need to provide them with a way back to the beginning so they don’t get lost and move on to another Web site. Then lastly of course is the content… he said if I don’t provide good, valuable content on my web site then no one will have a reason for visiting my Web site, not to mention read it.
